Good and Differently-Good

Angels or Demons, Devas or  Asuras, Heroes or Villains, Good or Bad, Black or White, Friends or Enemies, Right or Wrong, Yin or Yang.  All these depict the extreme extreme and exact opposites. If we subscribe to an extreme stand-point now, then, we are missing a great deal of ‘Life’.  If, and only if, we take ‘Good’ as the term for desirable values, then the above can be quoted as ‘Good’ and ‘Differently-Good’. Definitely, ‘Shades of Grey’ isn’t what I am indicating. Here comes the explanation..

Wonderful Beings

Human minds are very imaginative. Our lessons start very early in life.  That would mean, from the mother’s womb. We see less but seem to understand more. To a significant extent our understanding has helped us in creating some impressions which are nearly true.  Needless, all others are untrue.  Our creativity further helped in building on these understanding, in designing a future course that we started predicting it. Basis our learning, leanings and experiences from the past, we validate and pass judgements on every aspect of life, continually and excruciatingly biased.

Thinking Extremes

On the other extreme we have the myth called science – which believes in existence of only those tried, tested,  experimented and proven. Also, as anti-thesis, Science disbelieves existence of anything that which has not been proved through experiment.  Now again, let’s not rush on deciding whether Science is Good or Bad to us.  From here comes the crux, every suffering that we undergo is result of such hasty decisions wavering far and wide from one end to another. Always choosing between only two extremes, is the cause of all the extremities that we are facing now. Opposite of Good need not always be Bad.  Most of the times, it is complementing each other. It could be termed as Good or a Differently-Good.

Pre-conditioning

Much of our decisions are made ahead of our seeing the facts. We get into the pre-conditioning chamber, i.e., pre-conceived notions making judgements on the new inputs on the way.  Of late, understand the influence of social media on our belief systems – which alter day in and day out.  Any and every topic being discussed here will see only the extremes. Taking our thoughts extremely far (for) and the other time, extremely against. Be it the topic of plastic rice, religious hatred messages, reporting of incidents – many being damned old but replayed a hundred times with fresh and fresher taglines. Who is the benefactor in all of these. Who is doing this pre-conditioning.

Middle Ground

I would comfortably take and stay put in the middle ground. I am sure many of you would curse me for not taking sides. But, believe me, I have come across so many messages which are far from truth, and have left an indelible guilt for having believed them be true at some point of time. Thus, for now, let us tag each one of them as Good if you agree, or differently good if you dont. There is little damage when we do not take the extremist stand on the basis of these half-truths or perceptions, however palpable they might be. Do not judge me, whether I’m good or differently good; at least till there is better clarity.
