Mahabharata – A Perspective

Sanjeya is at the cabin door of Dhruthirashtra, the blind King.
Just then, Gaandhari walked out of the cabin. Sanjeya mutters, ‘the cup is full’. Duty bound, he has to deliver the live-feed from the War-field.
Sanjeya enters the cabin.

What you might know of Sanjeya may not be complete, if you do not know that Sanjeya comes from the Treta Yug. And so does Gaandhari. Both were playmates at one time. Sanjeya chose the field and has been hailed a Hero out-doors. His Carmic cycle had caught up with him and prevailed. He, along with a few more, had survived from Treta Yug to the Dwapara Yug. One such accompaniment being Gaandhari. Gaandhari happens to be his senior in many ways.

Gaandhari has chosen to be blind. Many would attribute her this choice of blindness to be from a deep love for Dhruthirashtra. But no, Blindness absolves one from all kinds of responsibilities. No accountability for actions or inaction. Blindness pardons one for not having the Vision that is believed to be born from Sight. Choosing blindess makes one the epitome of selflessness and thus ushers in more sympathy and audience.

Sanjeya entered to brief Dhruthirashtra the updates on war-field. Born blind, the King had now turned Deaf too. Thanks to Gaandhari’s visit. Before Sanjeya could complete a sentence, the King declared in a high authoritarian voice, “do not sweet-coat facts”. “I Know”. Sanjeya, speechless, walked out of the cabin feeling belittled like a poor MIS guy.

What do you know of Krishna ?
He too came from the Treta Yug. Then, he was known as Rama, the law-abiding King. Now, he had acquired his crooked ways. For those of you who do not know or believe, you should now regard Him as God. Creator of both Good and the Bad. He conducts everyone through his influences. Be it Dhruthirashtra, Arjuna, or Duryodhana or for that matter all the people around him who came up during the Dwapara Yug.

How engaging he kept the huge families of brothers and cousins. The Kings fighting one another through his mystical ways. He is the incarnation of Vishnu, but failed to maintain peace and harmony in his family, which lead to continuous wars amongst cousins. Provoked, schemed and devised by the Krishna Himself. Why had he not stopped the Wars from happening, with his Godly powers. Why had he not repeated the Great Governance of Ram Rajya from Treta Yug to the Dwapara Yug. Lest, He could not save his own Mithila from destruction.

Had it not been for such huge wars, our ancestors could have left a bigger, better, richer legacy of this nation, Bharat. Then, we might have been called the “Maha” Bharat, in the true sense.

Somewhere it continues to be like Krishna is everywhere that the world seem to go about. Even till this day. The ones from the Treta Yug can clearly see that Krishna is everywhere. Through Karna, Arjuna, Duryodhana, or even Shakuni. For that matter, each and every one. In each and every word, act, commissions and omissions too. His diktat is obviously visible.

Jai Sri Krishna.
