Cleansed in Milk

Truth & Honesty according to Gandhiji might be as old as hills. Remember, hills too can be perceived differently according to the lens through which it is seen or shown and can be given shapes more creatively according to one’s imagination. Truth can be shown as beautiful, ugly, huge or insignificant according to the perceptions given by leading questions and answers.

Data warehouses are big businesses today. Analytics are paying even better. Without demeaning their contribution in the world of economics, my submission is that data leaves a lot more scope for interpretation than to lead to blatantly singular decisions. In the paradigm of business, every scenario is a perception – and is taken on relative terms and never on absolute terms. Wisdom is in taking a holistic view than in getting impulsive with every minor change in direction that the seasonally inclined data may lead to.

You may believe in your truths that might have crystallized on the basis of your experimentation and thought processes over time. Your truth too can be far different from a popular perception. Right or wrong is like white or black, get ready to accept some shades of grey. This is when value systems play a stronger influence. Our thoroughbred values will give the direction required to analyze facts and figures, and help us arrive at a near perfect decision. Never on any occasion can there be absolutely right decisions.

People subscribe to and preach their own belief statements only. Some people might state things that even they don’t buy. Such behaviour can also be hidden under the mask called professionalism. We should evaluate the person’s intentions beyond their statements in isolation. They might behave exactly as in the Hindi phrase “Dhoodh ke dhule”, “cleansed in milk”. One should not get carried away and later suffer deceit in such dealings. It may so happen that in such transactions you may get depicted as a total failure and incompetent, or even be labelled as having a ‘victim’ mentality.  Accept the responsibility for your actions or in-actions that has made people see you as a hill or a mole-hill.

Watch out, neither be blind to “The Truth”, nor get washed away by people’s perceptions, “cleansed in milk”.
